Our Affiliation

When Celebration began, we were sponsored by three bodies:

The Southeast Gateway Area

41 congregations spread along the Mississippi from Hawk Point, MO (to the north) to Kennett, MO (in the southeast bootheel) and across the river to Marine, IL (to the east.)

The Christian Church in Mid-America

334 congregations in the tradition of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) that fellowship and work together throughout greater Missouri and Western Illinois.

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in North America

Nearly 4,200 congregations in the United States and Canada who cooperate together in a world-wide mission effort.

These three groups, plus numerous individuals and individual congregations, have contributed over $100,000 (so far) to get Celebration started.

Celebration now wholeheartedly supports these three groups through missions offerings (10% of receipts are allocated for National, Regional, and SEGA work). Additionally, Celebration participates in many programs and initiatives at all three levels--everything from co-operating in summer camping programs for kids, through consultations with other church planters and congregational vitality groups nationwide.

Why not just be an independent/non-denominational church?

We are an independent church! Every Disciples congregation is independent. There is no denominational control or hierarchy. Each church is self-governed and determines its own affairs.
